About Shadow Hill Retrievers
We are dedicated to our incredible dogs, and showcasing their talent and training as dual purpose sporting retrievers. Shadow Hill Retrievers is proud to be a BSS Silver Level Preferred Breeder and Sponsor Member of the Boykin Spaniel Society, and triple register all our dogs through BSS, AKC, and UKC. Our dogs receive all BSS recommended health testing before making the decision to breed, as we strive for genetic excellence and superior performance in all areas. We actively hunt with the dogs we own, and campaign our dogs in both upland and retriever hunt tests and trials. Our dogs are equal parts form and function, holding AKC Grand Champion and Champion titles in the show ring on top of their accomplishments in the field. Owner Adelaide Lloyd attributes her success to a natural understanding of dogs and passion for the betterment of the Boykin Spaniel breed.
Adelaide Lloyd
Owner Handler & Trainer
Adelaide “Addie” Lloyd obtained her Bachelor’s of Business Administration from Stetson University in Spring 2022 with double majors in Marketing and Sales, and achieved her Masters of Business Administration degree in the Spring of 2024. Addie is an avid waterfowl and upland game bird hunter, and has enjoyed the outdoors and sporting lifestyle her entire life. Her passion for gundogs began when she brought home her Golden Retriever, Shadow Hill’s Boone Doc back in April 2017. “Boone” was trained to be her personal hunting dog, making many memorable retrieves during the years spent hunting with her family. It was through Boone Doc that Addie found her love for retriever training, going on to title him in hunt tests with ease. She is now President of the Southern Boykin Spaniel Club and a licensed HRC Judge.

Health Testing
We strongly believe in the importance of health screening for issues affecting our beloved breed, and recognize that hip dysplasia and other inherited diseases can be controlled by careful, selective breeding. At Shadow Hill Retrievers, we follow all parent club recommended health screenings for the dogs we intend to breed, and report them to the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals. Once all breed-specific health screenings for a dog are recorded by OFA, the dog will be issued a CHIC number. To view the results of these screenings, visit the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals website and search a dog by its registered name or registration number. When searching for a puppy and verifying the reputability of a breeder, you should always check for these results.
